What storms and rain do to trees here
Seasonal storms and heavy rain raise the risk of wind damage and water intrusion. A broken or leaning limb over the roof can let water in long before anyone sees a stain inside. We look at the crown and at the base of the tree. The soils here have shrink-swell potential and move with moisture, so a tree at the edge of a wet stretch gets checked at the ground as well as overhead.
Power lines and the bucket truck
We treat overhead power lines as energized and keep the required clearance. If the work can't be done safely at that distance, we call the utility and don't push it. When the height or position of a limb calls for it, the aerial lift (bucket truck) goes up so we can work from a stable platform and not from the tree.

How we plan and run the chipper
Before anyone cuts, we settle the felling direction, the drop zones, each person's role on the crew, and the signals we'll use to talk over saw noise. At the chipper, the guards and emergency stops stay in place and everyone stays clear of the in-feed chute. Nobody pushes material in with hands or feet.
What related work costs
Wood chipping runs $75 to $300. Deep root aeration runs $100 to $300. Both are priced once we've seen the tree and the ground around it.

The Job, Done Right
Our crew does the work, checks it, and leaves the site clean. You see everything we did.
Some of what that looks like in the field:
- When climbing, maintain a secure tie-in and use approved fall protection; in an aerial lift, tie off at the designated anchor point.
- Mark and control the drop zone, keep bystanders and nonessential workers clear, and coordinate overhead and ground crews.
What to Expect to Pay
Typical ranges, not a fixed price - the exact number is confirmed in writing before work starts.
$200–$400
Common Questions
Verify insurance, ask for references, and confirm the crew will walk the site to identify power lines, lean, and hazards before cutting. Written bids should detail what is included, such as stump grinding ($90–$1,200) and debris hauling.
Tipping is optional. If the crew completes a difficult job safely and cleans up thoroughly, $20–$50 per worker is common. Many homeowners instead offer cold drinks or a positive review when the work matches the quoted $200–$5,000 price.
Obtain two or three written bids within the $200–$5,000 removal range. Ask whether stump grinding or hauling can be omitted to lower the price, or whether scheduling during slower months yields a discount. Never accept an offer that removes required safety steps.
