When aeration makes sense
Thin grass or a tree that has stopped putting on growth often points back to the soil. When the ground is packed, roots can't pull in the air and water they need. Loosening it is the fix we're talking about here.
With Rockledge's long hot stretches, a tree with limited root access feels it sooner. If you've noticed a tree struggling, that's the time to call us about aeration.
When limb work has to happen first
Sometimes a branch hanging over the work area has to come down before we can aerate under it. When that happens we plan it before any cutting starts: which way the limb falls, where it lands, who does what, and the signals we use to talk to each other.
Power lines over the tree change the job. We treat them as energized and keep our distance. If we can't do the work safely at that distance, we call the utility rather than work around it. Rigging rope and carabiners are what we use to lower sections that can't drop freely.

What it costs
Deep root aeration runs $100 to $300 per aeration. Where your job lands in that range depends on the site, and we give you the number before we start.

The Job, Done Right
Our crew does the work, checks it, and leaves the site clean. You see everything we did.
Some of what that looks like in the field:
- Train chainsaw operators in notching, hinge wood, and back-cut techniques; maintain firm footing and a two-handed grip while cutting.
- Use chipper guards and emergency stops, stay clear of the in-feed chute, and never push material into the machine with hands or feet.
What to Expect to Pay

Common Questions
Permit rules vary by city and tree species or size. Many municipalities require permits for trees above a certain diameter or protected species. Check local ordinances before work begins to avoid fines; the tree service can often advise on requirements.
Pruning costs range from $75 to $1,500. Late dormant season, just before spring growth, is often ideal because wounds close quickly and pests are inactive. Avoid trimming during leaf-out or fall color change when the tree is stressed.
The rule is a safety guideline: maintain a 5-foot exclusion zone around the sawyer, keep bystanders at least 15 feet away from the tree, and clear a 90-degree escape path opposite the planned fall direction. Proper planning reduces struck-by injuries.
