Signs a tree needs work
Limbs hanging lower after a storm, branches rubbing the roof or siding, and dead wood in the canopy are the usual reasons to call. A tree that leans more than it used to belongs on that list too. A limb that breaks over a roof is one way water gets into the house, so we would rather take it off on our schedule than the wind's.
How we make the cuts
Every operator on our crew is trained in notching, leaving hinge wood, and finishing with a back cut, so the limb falls where we planned. The hinge is what steers it. We keep firm footing and a two-handed grip on the saw through every cut, because wood under tension can twist without warning.

Chipper and grinder safety
Anything that goes through the chipper gets fed in properly. Nobody pushes material in with hands or feet, and everyone stays clear of the in-feed chute. The guards and emergency stops stay on and working. If a stump shows up that needs grinding, we have a stump grinder and can quote that separately from the trimming.
What trimming costs
Tree trimming and pruning runs $75 to $1500. A small tree with a few dead limbs sits near the bottom of that range. A big canopy that needs a lot of cuts, or limbs we can only reach by working from the bucket truck, sits toward the top. We look at the tree before we give you a number.

The Job, Done Right
Our crew does the work, checks it, and leaves the site clean. You see everything we did.
Some of what that looks like in the field:
- Mark and control the drop zone, keep bystanders and nonessential workers clear, and coordinate overhead and ground crews.
- Before felling, consider the tree’s lean, crown weight, wind, and obstacles, and clear an escape path away from the fall line.
What to Expect to Pay
Typical ranges, not a fixed price - the exact number is confirmed in writing before work starts.
$100–$300
Common Questions
Demand often drops in late fall and winter, which can lower rates within the normal $200–$5,000 range. Mild weather also lets crews work safely without ice or summer foliage blocking access. Booking during slower months may reduce wait times as well.
An unground stump can regrow, attract insects, create tripping hazards, and interfere with mowing or landscaping. Stump removal costs $90–$1,200 depending on size and root depth. Grinding below grade allows soil and grass to be restored over the area.
Hourly rates are uncommon; most jobs are bid by the tree. When charged hourly, expect figures that contribute to the overall $200–$5,000 removal range. Crew size, equipment, and job complexity determine the final total more than an hourly meter.
