How we make the cuts
Every chainsaw operator on our crew is trained in notching, hinge wood, and back-cut technique. The notch sets the direction, the hinge wood keeps the tree on line as it moves, and the back-cut finishes the job. The operator keeps firm footing and a two-handed grip on the saw for the whole cut.
Rigging larger sections
When a trunk or limb is too big or too close to a structure to drop freely, we use rigging rope and carabiners to guide it down in sections. That keeps pieces from swinging into the house or fences, and it lets us control where the weight goes.

Chipper safety
Chipper guards and emergency stops stay in place for the whole job. Nobody works in front of the in-feed chute, and we never push material into the machine with hands or feet, even when the pile looks small.

The Job, Done Right
Our crew does the work, checks it, and leaves the site clean. You see everything we did.
Some of what that looks like in the field:
- Inspect climbing, cutting, and lift equipment before use, and remove damaged or worn equipment from service.
- When climbing, maintain a secure tie-in and use approved fall protection; in an aerial lift, tie off at the designated anchor point.
What to Expect to Pay
Typical ranges, not a fixed price - the exact number is confirmed in writing before work starts.
$200–$400
$100–$300
Common Questions
Demand often drops in late fall and winter, which can lower rates within the normal $200–$5,000 range. Mild weather also lets crews work safely without ice or summer foliage blocking access. Booking during slower months may reduce wait times as well.
An unground stump can regrow, attract insects, create tripping hazards, and interfere with mowing or landscaping. Stump removal costs $90–$1,200 depending on size and root depth. Grinding below grade allows soil and grass to be restored over the area.
Hourly rates are uncommon; most jobs are bid by the tree. When charged hourly, expect figures that contribute to the overall $200–$5,000 removal range. Crew size, equipment, and job complexity determine the final total more than an hourly meter.
